Charkera Edwina Ervin was born in Charleston, WV, and raised in the counties of McDowell and Mercer. She and her husband, Marcus, reside in Bluefield, WV. A graduate of Bluefield High School’s Class of 2004, Mrs. Ervin earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Bluefield State College in 2009. She is employed by the McDowell County school system as an educator.

Mrs. Ervin gave her life to Christ at age 7, and was called into the ministry at age 13. Spiritually-nurtured under the ministries of Miracle Mount Carmel Holiness Church of God of Kimball, WV, and Freedom House Ministries of Bluefield, WV, she came to preach her first sermon on August 22, 1999. Since that time, her call has been tested, tried, and proven true. She continues to fulfill her calling as an assistant to Pastor Garry D. Moore, Sr., of the Scott Street Baptist Church.

In her ministry, she has fulfilled the roles of evangelist, teacher, and spiritual counselor. Her heart’s desire is to give God glory for whatever she has accomplished in the life of her ministry. According to John Chapter 11, Verse 40, “Jesus said unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?” Mrs. Charkera Ervin is currently working on a Master’s degree from Marshall University in Special Education in Deaf and Hard of Hearing. She is learning American Sign Language in preparation for Deaf Ministry.
